The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is hiring over 30,000 people to help deliver the Census — including 130 Local Engagement Officer roles available from 5 January 2026, some right here in our council area!

Local Engagement Officers play a vital role in supporting diverse communities to complete the Census. We’re looking for people who are connected to their community and have experience working with:

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples

Culturally and linguistically diverse communities

People experiencing homelessness

People living with a disability

Youth or older Australians
